Sukku coffee under banyan trees: Coimbatore’s Baralikadu sells nature over noise
Leaving behind Coimbatore and its partly sunny skies, travelers are heading to Baralikadu, an eco-tourism getaway 70 kilometres from the city.
After a two-hour scenic drive, the reserve forest opens up to a stunning view of river Bhavani, the heart of Baralikadu.
Visitors are welcomed with sukku coffee made with dry ginger and jaggery, served under a mighty banyan tree. The spot overlooks the backwaters of Pilloor Dam, a critical drinking water lifeline for Coimbatore.
Minutes later, guests wear life jackets, adjust hats, and step into traditional coracles. Soon, the boats glide across shimmering waters as tourists inhale crisp, pollution-free air and soak up the silence.
The destination is drawing attention for its mix of nature, heritage and low-impact tourism close to the city.
