Prasoon Joshi appointed chairman of Prasar Bharati

New Delhi: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has appointed noted lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi as the Chairman of Prasar Bharati. I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the appointment on Saturday and extended his congratulations.

“My heartfelt congratulations to Shri Prasoon Joshi ji on his appointment as Chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board,” Vaishnaw said. “Prasoon ji is a rare creative spirit celebrated across the world in advertising, literature, art and cinema, yet his heart beats unmistakably for India. His words carry the fragrance of our soil, and his vision reflects the timeless essence of our culture.”

Joshi, who also serves as Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification, is a National Award-winning lyricist, screenwriter, and former advertising executive known for his work in films and campaigns of national significance.

Prasar Bharati is India’s public service broadcaster and runs Doordarshan and All India Radio. The appointment comes as the organization expands its digital footprint and strengthens content reflecting Indian culture and public interest.

Joshi’s tenure is expected to focus on creative programming, cultural outreach, and modernizing public broadcasting.
