Meta expands teen safety settings on Instagram, Facebook and Messenger globally

Meta is expanding its content settings for teen accounts on Instagram, Facebook and Messenger worldwide to ensure age-appropriate experiences for younger users, the company said Tuesday.

The initiative was first launched in select countries last October. It seeks to prevent children from accessing inappropriate content as social media platforms face growing scrutiny over child health and safety.

Meta also announced a new Instagram feature designed to diversify the content seen by teens. The update aims to prevent repetitive exposure to certain themes on the platform.

The rollout addresses ongoing regulatory and public concerns about the impact of social media on minors.
