Marvel to re-release Avengers: Endgame as ‘Encore’ ahead ff Doomsday

Los Angeles: Marvel Studios will re-release Avengers: Endgame in theatres worldwide on September 25 as Avengers: Endgame Encore, in the lead-up to Avengers: Doomsday releasing December 18.

The re-release, first reported by Deadline, will not be a straight re-run. It will feature upgraded colour grading, a custom introduction, additional new footage tied to the Doomsday story integrated into the film, and a new post-credits scene.

Director Joe Russo said the re-release is designed to be a bridge between the two films.”It’s critically important to re-release the movie with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame. It’s an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way,” Russo said.

The special end tag will be exclusive to IMAX and screenings in Disney’s new premium large-format branding, Infinity Vision.

Infinity Vision is a new certification for Premium Large Format theatres requiring screens at least 45 feet wide with immersive audio and high brightness standards. Disney said more than 7,500 screens have already applied for certification.

Endgame, released in 2019, grossed $2.79 billion worldwide. The Encore re-release will debut less than three months before Doomsday, which sees Robert Downey Jr. return as Doctor Doom.
