India’s pharma exports rise 6.8% to $8.1 billion in Q1; U.S. remains top destination
Hyderabad: India’s pharmaceutical exports grew 6.8% year-on-year to $8.1 billion in the first quarter ended June 2026, data from the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) showed.
The growth was broad-based across key segments and regions. Drug formulations and biologicals remained the largest category, with exports at $5.98 billion, up 4.14% YoY and accounting for 73.85% of total exports. Bulk drugs and drug intermediates, the second-largest category, rose 13.84% YoY to $1.36 billion.
Vaccine exports jumped 35.68% YoY to $0.39 billion, while surgical products grew 11.95% YoY to $0.21 billion.
Region-wise, NAFTA, Europe, Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) continued to be the key markets, together accounting for nearly 75% of total exports. The United States remained India’s single largest export destination for pharmaceuticals during the quarter.
