IGNCA releases ‘Vande Mataram’ film featuring 8 classical dance forms on Independence Day

New Delhi: On the morning of Independence Day, the media centre of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) released a special film titled ‘Vande Mataram’.

The film brings together eight leading exponents of India’s classical dance traditions in a tribute to the nation. The performers include Sangita Chatterjee (Kathak), Shashwati Garai Ghosh (Odissi), Parshwanath Upadhye (Bharatanatyam), Kankana Singh (Manipuri), Anwesa Mahanta (Sattriya), Amrita Lahiri (Kuchipudi), Shyam Das (Kathakali) and Jayaprabha Menon (Mohiniyattam).

The project was led by Ram Bahadur Rai, President of IGNCA, who served as Chief Patron. The concept for the film was developed by Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary of IGNCA. Lubdhak Chatterjee directed the film and handled cinematography and editing. Project supervision was done by Anurag Punetha, Controller of the Media Centre at IGNCA.

The release celebrates India’s cultural diversity by showcasing multiple classical dance forms together, marking Independence Day with an artistic rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’.
