Spain falls into darkness as rare total solar eclipse sweeps North
Northern Spain: Spectators across Spain watched in wonder on Wednesday evening as a rare total solar eclipse swept across the north of the country, plunging towns into darkness.
As the moon blocked the sun, crowds whipped off their protective glasses and rose to their feet in unison to witness the brief but dramatic spectacle.
The event drew huge public interest. Spain deployed a massive police contingent to manage crowds and ensure safety during the eclipse.
Authorities also set up special viewing spots in rural areas that offered the clearest, unobstructed views of the phenomenon.
The total solar eclipse was one of the most widely watched astronomical events in Spain in recent years, drawing both locals and tourists to the path of totality.
