London: Shell has revealed the “Triple 10 Challenge Car”, an all-electric concept aimed at faster charging, lighter batteries, and lower emissions.
The concept targets: 10-minute charging, 10 km/kWh efficiency, and 10 tons of CO2 across its lifecycle.
Key to it is Shell’s new Recharge thermal fluid and a single-circuit cooling system. The car can charge from 10% to 80% in 9 minutes 54 seconds on a standard 175kW charger, without hurting battery life.
Shell says it gets 30%+ better energy efficiency than many current EVs by using a smaller battery.
The concept has no price and isn’t slated for production. Shell calls it a “proof-of-concept” to inspire European-made EVs to compete with fast-charging, compact Chinese models like BYD and Leapmotor.
