Sisters, desire, and 1700s England: New ‘Sense and Sensibility’ trailer sets the mood
Los Angeles: The first trailer for Sense and Sensibility, Georgia Oakley’s new film adaptation of Jane Austen’s debut novel, was unveiled by the makers on Thursday (June 25, 2026).
The period drama stars Daisy Edgar-Jones alongside Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, Herbert Nordrum, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, George MacKay, and Fiona Shaw in pivotal roles.
The trailer gives a sweeping look at the story of Elinor Dashwood, one of three sisters forced to leave their family estate with their widowed mother for a cottage in the countryside. At their new home, the sisters navigate first love, with the film exploring longing, female desire, and sisterhood in early 18th-century England.
No release date has been announced yet. The film marks Oakley’s follow-up to her 2022 debut Blue Jean.
