Mama dog and six puppies rescued from abandoned Kansas City basement
Kansas: A municipal officer securing an abandoned home in Kansas City, Kansas made a surprising discovery — a mama dog and her six puppies had sought refuge in the property’s basement, KMBC reported.
When Animal Services officers were dispatched, they crawled through the dilapidated building’s foundation and found a scared mama dog caring for her litter.
Officers first coaxed the mama dog out safely, then used a box to transport the six puppies. All seven canines were given baths and medical care following the rescue.The furry family is now comfortable and safe, awaiting transfer to a foster home until they are available for adoption, police said.
The heartwarming rescue occurred during Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, which recognizes the dedication of animal services professionals who protect animals.
Officials from the Kansas City Kansas Police Department shared photos of the officers extracting the pups and the litter resting after their bath, praising the team’s quick response.
