UP educator builds 90k-strong learning platform from her phone
In Baraut, UP, 27-year-old Richa Jain built a free Hindi learning platform from a smartphone.
With no laptop or Wi-Fi in 2021, she pooled 1GB data packs from her family to upload YouTube lessons for UGC NET and JRF aspirants. She made slides on her phone and spent 7 hours per video while pursuing her PhD and JRF.
Today, Hindi With Richa has ∼90,000 YouTube subscribers. An estimated 50,000-60,000 students have learned from her, and thousands have qualified NET/JRF.
Students praise her for detailed explanations of previous-year questions, not just answers. Devashish from Delhi credits her for his 100% JRF score. A 52-year-old learner qualified NET through her free videos to prove “it is never too late.”In Jan 2025 she launched the Hindi With Richa app, now used by 25,000+ active students.
Richa, who also lives with vitiligo, says her goal is access. “If a student was willing to learn, they deserved an opportunity.” She’s proving that quality education in Hindi can be just as rigorous and transformative as in any other language.
