This Malayali creator is turning iconic Malayalam movie scenes into anime with AI

Pune: A 25-year-old Malayali creator in Pune is giving Mollywood classics an anime makeover — using generative AI.

Rohit Milan is reimagining iconic scenes from films like Mohanlal’s Narasimham and Spadikam, and Rajinikanth’s Sivaji: The Boss in the style of Japanese anime.

One of his viral recreations is the famous entry scene of Induchoodan from Narasimham (2000). In the Shaji Kailas film, Mohanlal’s character emerges dramatically from a river after waiting underwater through a long monologue. Fans call it one of Malayalam cinema’s biggest mass moments. Critics have joked about the physics of holding his breath that long.

Milan saw it differently. Instead of live action, he visualized it as an anime sequence created with AI tools.

His work blends nostalgia for Malayalam cinema with the visual language of anime, sparking fresh conversations online about how AI can reinterpret regional film moments for a new audience.
