Rupee gains 14 paise to close at 95.21 against U.S. dollar
The Indian rupee strengthened on Friday, July 3, 2026, snapping a weak run as the U.S. dollar eased from recent highs and domestic equities remained positive.
The rupee appreciated 14 paise to close at 95.21 against the U.S. dollar, provisional data showed. The local unit had opened stronger and tracked gains in benchmark indices through the day.
Forex traders said the decline in the dollar index from its recent 15-month high, along with softer crude oil prices, supported the rupee. Positive sentiment in equity markets also added to the momentum.
However, the gains were capped by strong dollar demand from importers and corporate hedgers, which limited further appreciation, traders added.
Overall, the rupee ended the session higher, mirroring the firm trend in domestic stocks and a softer greenback globally.
