New Delhi: State-owned explorer-producer Oil India has confirmed the presence of natural gas in its third exploratory well in the Andaman shallow offshore block. The well is named Vijayapuram-3.
With the latest exploration, OIL has now established hydrocarbon presence in two of the three exploratory wells it has drilled in the block so far.
The company had earlier reported the occurrence of natural gas in the second exploratory well in September last year.
The findings strengthen OIL’s exploration efforts in the Andaman offshore area, where the company has been drilling to assess the block’s hydrocarbon potential.
