Market cap of 5 top-10 firms jumps ₹1.54 lakh crore; TCS biggest gainer

New Delhi: The combined market valuation of five of the 10 most valued domestic companies jumped by ₹1.54 lakh crore last week. IT major TCS emerged as the biggest winner, in line with a positive trend in the equity markets.

The surge in valuation came as both benchmark indices ended the week in green. The BSE Sensex climbed 582.06 points, or 0.75%, while the NSE Nifty rose 127.4 points, or 0.52%. Gains in large-cap stocks, particularly in the IT space, helped drive the rally.

TCS led the gains among the top-10 firms, contributing the most to the total ₹1.54 lakh crore increase in market cap. The other four companies in the top-5 gainers also saw their valuations rise, though the exchange did not specify individual figures. Market analysts said the rally was supported by improved sentiment in IT stocks, stable global cues, and continued domestic inflows.

Investor focus remained on index heavyweights, which pushed the overall market higher for the second straight week. With benchmarks closing higher, market participants will now watch upcoming corporate earnings and global trends for cues on whether the rally in large-cap stocks can sustain.
