Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre on ‘Lanterns’: ‘They’re fearless rockstars’

Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, who play Hal Jordan and John Stewart in DC Universe’s upcoming series ‘Lanterns’, have spoken about what makes their characters tick and the unusual world of the show.

‘Lanterns’, described as a mix of superhero drama, sci-fi and neo-western, also follows a murder with far-reaching repercussions for Hal and John. While shows like ‘True Detective’ and ‘Slow Horses’ have been cited as inspirations, the actors said they did not watch either show during filming.

“We are aware of these successful and wonderful projects, but we made the decision that we wanted to curate and discover a unique dynamic,” Aaron Pierre said over a video call from Los Angeles. “It was daunting, but we wanted to create our own version. So we actually limited what we consumed visually during filming. I read and listened to music.”
