Khammam teacher uses AI to revive Govt school, wins parents’ trust
Khammam: At a time when parents are shifting children to private schools, a government school teacher from Khammam is using AI to restore faith in public education. Nageswar Rao Bandi, a secondary grade teacher at Mandal Parishad Primary School, Kothagudem in Khammam Urban, has turned technology into his strongest teaching tool.
Despite being disabled, Nageswar Rao has adopted digital methods rarely seen in rural government schools. He believes AI can make learning joyful and change how parents view government classrooms. “The idea was to make learning enjoyable and help parents realise that government schools are also changing with the times,” he told TNIE.
For the state’s Badi Bata enrolment campaign for 2026-27, he created a series of visually engaging videos. The videos highlighted what government schools offer: free textbooks, uniforms, nutritious mid-day meals, dedicated teachers, and welfare schemes for students. He shared these clips to attract more families back to public schools.
Building on work from the 2025-26 academic year, Nageswar Rao used AI-powered tools, free online platforms, Google applications and other digital resources. He converted lessons into colorful storytelling experiences with animation, voice narration and interactive visuals. Subjects like Telugu, English and Environmental Science became more relatable and engaging for children.
His approach is simple: technology should assist, not replace, a teacher’s sincerity. The AI-generated content he created last year is now being used alongside videos showcasing school facilities. Parents who saw the material said it gave them a new perspective on what government schools can offer.
Nageswar Rao’s effort comes when many rural schools struggle with low enrolment as families opt for English-medium private schools. His work shows that with creativity and sincerity, public schools can compete. For him, the impact isn’t artificial intelligence alone, but the human intent behind it.
