Joemon Jyothir, Alan Bin Siraj team up for quirky malayalam film ‘Poocha Sir’
Malayalam cinema has a new quirky project on the way. Filmmaker Vipin Das has officially announced ‘Poocha Sir’, a new Malayalam film featuring Joemon Jyothir and Alan Bin Siraj in the lead roles. The announcement came with an eye-catching first-look poster showing a cat, sparking curiosity online.
The film will mark the directorial debut of Rejivan Abdul Basheer, who earlier worked as chief associate director on the hit film ‘Vaazha 2’. Sharing the poster, Vipin Das wrote, “Every story has a name. Here it is, #PoochaSir. ‘Not just a cat… a legend in disguise.'” The film is the production house’s second venture after last year’s ‘Eko’.
The story and screenplay are written by Arun D Jose, popularly known as ADJ. He is known for directing and writing films like ‘Jo & Jo’, ‘18+ Journey of Love’, and ‘Bromance’. While makers have kept the genre and plot under wraps, the title and cat-themed poster have already generated discussion among cinema lovers.

For Joemon, ‘Poocha Sir’ will be his third film as a lead actor. He debuted in a lead role with John Paul George’s ‘Aashan’ and is also awaiting the release of ‘Santhosh Trophy’, a project that made headlines after he stepped into a role earlier associated with Prithviraj Sukumaran.
The makers confirmed that shooting for ‘Poocha Sir’ will begin during the second half of 2026. More details about the story, genre, and remaining crew members are expected to be announced in the coming months. With its unusual title, intriguing poster, and a fresh directorial voice behind the camera, ‘Poocha Sir’ has started attracting attention even before further details are out.
