Georgia teacher finds 1-pound kitten trapped under car – just in time for Halloween anniversary
Sandy Springs: A high school teacher got an unexpected anniversary present on her way to work earlier this month – a tiny black kitten trapped in her car’s suspension.”It was a pretty wild story,” Nicole told GNN. It happened just in time to celebrate her Halloween wedding anniversary.
“My husband and I were driving to pick up birthday cupcakes for my journalism students when another driver started honking at us. Apparently, there was something hanging underneath our car.”That something turned out to be a tiny black kitten clinging to the undercarriage.
They called for emergency help to avoid putting the stowaway at risk. It took three firefighters and two police officers to rescue the stubborn kitten, who weighed just over a pound (544g).
“We took him straight to the vet,” Nicole said, where they learned he was less than seven weeks old. Because the couple was married on Halloween, Nicole and her husband Brandon felt it was fate that a black cat crossed their path in October. They immediately took him home.”Adopting a tiny black kitten in October feels especially fitting! We couldn’t just send him on his way,” she said.
They named him Friday Shadow and welcomed him into the family. Above all, the couple wanted to share their story to recognize the first responders who stopped to help.”These wonderful first responders should get some recognition for going above and beyond to save such a tiny life,” Nicole said.
“Somehow, this tiny black kitten managed to show up just in time to become the most unexpected anniversary present we could have imagined.”
