From wheelchair to workshop: Teen survivor builds AI for healing

Aurangabad: An accident at age 14 left Arnav Maharishi paralysed. Now, years later, the Aurangabad resident is developing AI-powered tools designed to help others navigate their own recovery with clarity and confidence.

Maharishi’s life changed after the devastating accident that caused his paralysis. During his rehabilitation, he began questioning the recovery process itself, looking for ways to make it more transparent and data-driven for patients. That experience became the foundation for his current work. He has since focused on building technology that supports people healing from serious injuries.

The AI-powered tools aim to give patients and caregivers better insight into recovery progress and decision-making. “Recovery often feels uncertain. I wanted to build something that brings structure and confidence back to the process,” Maharishi said.

While details of the specific tools are still emerging, the project marks a shift from personal rehabilitation to creating solutions for the wider community of patients facing similar challenges. Maharishi’s work adds to a growing movement of innovators turning personal adversity into assistive technology, particularly in the health-tech space.
