Anthropic’s market debut could break SpaceX IPO record, says report
Anthropic expects to match or beat SpaceX’s record-setting Initial Public Offering (IPO) as preparations for the AI firm’s debut pick up speed, according to a Bloomberg report.
The Claude developer is running the numbers as it prepares to file publicly for its potential mega-IPO as soon as the end of August, sources familiar with the matter said. Recent investor briefings led by Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao skirted the question of valuation.
Elon Musk’s SpaceX raised $75 billion at the outset in June, making it the biggest first-time share sale ever, data compiled by Bloomberg shows. The final figure increased to $86.2 billion with the so-called over-allotment option, which is typically exercised if shares rise in early trading.
Discussions on Anthropic’s IPO size and other details are ongoing and could change, the sources said.
The five-year-old company raised $65 billion in May at a $965 billion valuation, surpassing rival OpenAI’s valuation of $852 billion in March.
The company saw positive adjusted operating income for the second quarter, though it had a net loss of almost $42 billion in 2025, up from about $8.3 billion in 2024, according to documents seen by Bloomberg.
Anthropic had confidentially filed for an IPO on June 1, submitting a draft registration statement to the SEC.
