Dog missing for three weeks on England’s highest peaks rescued

A dog missing for nearly three weeks on a mountain in England’s Lake District has been rescued in a major team effort.

Tiny Teddy vanished on August 2nd while hiking with his owner on Helvellyn, the third-highest peak in the country. Despite posters plastered around the area, there was no sighting for nearly three weeks.

On August 21st, volunteers searching the slopes heard barking coming from Dry Gill, a steep ravine on the mountain. They located the dog but found him stuck and unreachable, prompting them to call the local Keswick Mountain Rescue Team.

Seven team members spent three-and-a-half hours carrying out the rescue. Teddy was secured in a rucksack and given a small amount of food for the journey down to the car park, where he was reunited with his owner and taken to a veterinarian.

Though he had lost considerable weight, Teddy displayed no obvious injuries.”The news of this missing dog had deeply affected so many people across our local community.
