Rupee rises 1 paisa to 95.73 against U.S. dollar in early trade

Mumbai: The rupee strengthened marginally by 1 paisa to 95.73 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, aided by RBI intervention, even as heightened tensions in West Asia kept global markets cautious.

Forex traders said the local unit found support from a decline in the dollar index and continued foreign institutional investor inflows. However, gains remained limited due to a rise in global crude oil prices, which added pressure on the rupee.

The rupee had depreciated 13 paise to close at 95.74 against the dollar on Tuesday, August 18.
