Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant hits 10 lakh capacity, becomes Suzuki’s largest factory globally

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India has hit a major milestone at its Gujarat facility. The auto major said on Thursday that its Hansalpur manufacturing plant has now attained an annual production capacity of 10 lakh units, making it the largest passenger vehicle production site for Suzuki anywhere in the world.

The ramp-up comes with the start of production at Plant D, the fourth plant at Hansalpur. With this, Maruti Suzuki’s total manufacturing capacity across its plants in Haryana and Gujarat has gone up to 29 lakh units per annum.

The company said it has cumulatively invested ₹25,288.7 crore in the 640-acre Hansalpur facility. That includes around ₹3,900 crore spent on setting up Plant D.

Located in Gujarat, Hansalpur has been central to Maruti’s export and domestic growth plans over the last few years. With the new capacity, the facility will play an even bigger role in meeting both India and global demand for Suzuki vehicles.
