Paul Greengrass’ ‘The Uprising’ trailer drops, Andrew Garfield plays Wat Tyler
Focus Features has released the first trailer for ‘The Uprising’, director Paul Greengrass’ new historical epic centered on one of England’s most famous popular revolts.
The trailer offers a sweeping first look at the film, with Andrew Garfield starring as Wat Tyler, the blacksmith-turned-rebel who led the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381 against the rule of King Richard II.
Set against a backdrop of crushing taxes and widening inequality, the footage shows ordinary people pushed to breaking point as Tyler emerges as the unlikely leader of a movement determined to challenge the Crown.
Greengrass, known for large-scale, visceral filmmaking, returns to the historical genre with the project. The trailer teases brutal battle sequences and a gritty retelling of the 14th-century uprising.
