Odisha’s first animated feature ‘Mahaprabhu Jagannath’ set for July 17 release

Bhubaneswar: The Indian animation industry is set to add a new milestone with the release of ‘Mahaprabhu Jagannath’ on July 17, 2026. Produced by Odisha-based Ele Animations Pvt Ltd, the film is the first animated feature film from Odisha and also the first animation film on Lord Jagannath.

The film will release in Hindi, Odia and Telugu across over 300 screens in India. Thiruvananthapuram-based Toonz Media Group is the distribution partner.

Durga Prasad Dalai, founder and CEO of Ele Animations, said the project marks a major step for the company. Ele Animations has been producing the television series ‘Jay Jagannath’ on POGO since 2024.

Dalai said the film is aimed at bringing the stories and traditions associated with Lord Jagannath to audiences through animation.
