Children’s art show ‘Spectrum of Colours’ opens in Palluruthy

Kochi: An annual showcase of paintings by children attending a summer camp run by artist VB Venu opened on May 28 at Chaithram Institute of Fine Art, Palluruthy.

Venu has been organizing the two-month painting classes and concluding exhibition for 21 years, barring the pandemic period. The show features works by 54 children who attended this year’s camp, along with pieces by regular students of the institute.

“Earlier, there used to be more than 100 participants. The number has dwindled post-COVID. It is down to barely 50-odd children now,” Venu said.

Initially, the exhibition was held at Chitram Art Gallery in Ravipuram. In recent years, the ‘Spectrum of Colours’ showcase has moved to the Chaithram Institute of Fine Art itself.

The exhibition marks the end of the summer vacation painting classes that Venu conducts each year for children in and around Palluruthy.
