Launch day chaos: New play ‘thanimAI’ tackles tech and family

A last-minute bug, an angry foreign investor, and a house full of interruptions threaten the launch of a friendship app for introverts in Dummies Drama’s new play thanimAI, staged at Krishna Gana Sabha.

The story by Nithya Kaushik follows Aditya, a computer science graduate from IIT, who runs a company with fellow IITian Vivek, played by Karthik Bhat. Their app, designed to help introverts find friends, is set to launch. But on the eve of the release, an AI agent detects a bug in the app without specifying what it is. Aditya has less than 24 hours to find and fix it.

With the foreign investor expressing his displeasure at the glitch, the stakes are high. Aditya decides to work from home to concentrate, but struggles to focus. His father Viswanathan, a compulsive talker, arrives unannounced. He is followed by a man looking for his wife Lakshmi, who does the housekeeping, then a cable TV technician. After that comes a steady stream of visitors.
