Goa man turns morning runs into mission to make strangers smile
For Clinton Tavares from Goa, a morning run is about more than fitness, it is about making strangers smile.
During his runs, Tavares makes it a point to notice people and compliment them. He may tell a man he has “the coolest beard,” praise someone’s backpack, compliment a woman’s sari, or simply greet people with a warm “Good morning.”His interactions are spontaneous and brief. When he met a 62-year-old man named Raj and learned he was a karate trainer, he told him, “That’s young. That’s quite young,” before exchanging words of encouragement and continuing his run.
In other moments, he tells people they are doing a great job and urges them to “Keep going,” playfully asks someone in a football jersey, “You are Ronaldo, right?” or tells a woman, “You’re a really good mom.”Tavares shares these encounters on Instagram as @clinton_tavares, where his bio reads, “No human is limited.”At a time when many rush through their days glued to phones and worries, his small habit shows how a compliment, a smile or a genuine “How are you?” can make someone feel seen.
For him, it happens one run, one stranger, and one kind word at a time.
