Young entrepreneur from UP develops sustainable biogas plant; Paving way for clean energy future

In a significant breakthrough, a young entrepreneur from Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh has developed a compressed biogas (CBG) plant that produces 2.4 tonnes of CBG per day, offering a sustainable alternative to CNG and PNG. Adi Upendra Tiwari, 29, an MBA graduate from the University of Liverpool, UK, has set up the energy unit near Bhailamau village in Hardoi, utilizing cow dung, sugarcane press mud, and crop residue to generate gas.

Tiwari’s initiative has not only created a new source of clean energy but also provides a solution to waste management, converting agricultural waste into a valuable resource. The plant’s production capacity is expected to increase to 12 tonnes per day in the near future, making it a significant contributor to India’s energy needs. “We aim to address the country’s growing energy demands while promoting sustainable practices,” Tiwari said. The plant’s success has encouraged local farmers to adopt similar models, promoting rural development and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Harsh Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner (Industries), praised Tiwari’s efforts, stating, “This project showcases the potential of innovative solutions in addressing energy challenges and promoting sustainable development.”Tiwari’s achievement serves as an inspiration to young entrepreneurs and a testament to India’s potential in renewable energy. The government’s focus on sustainable energy initiatives has created opportunities for innovative projects like this to flourish.
