Warner Bros. confirms ‘Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest’ movie for post-2027 release

Los Angeles: The first feature film set in the world of Game of Thrones is officially on Warner Bros.’ big-screen calendar.

In its Q2 2026 shareholders’ letter, Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed that ‘Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest’ is part of its theatrical slate beyond 2027. The studio listed the film alongside other upcoming tentpoles including new entries in The Matrix, Batman, and The Jetsons.

No specific release date has been announced yet. With the film currently in development, 2028 is the earliest possible window, while a 2029 release also remains plausible.

Aegon’s Conquest will dramatize the Targaryen invasion of Westeros — the historic campaign led by Aegon the Conqueror and his dragons that unified the Seven Kingdoms, 300 years before the events of the original series.

Warner Bros. has not yet revealed casting, director, or production details. The announcement marks the franchise’s first jump from television to theaters, as HBO continues to expand the Game of Thrones universe with series like House of the Dragon.
