U.S.-Russian crew lands safely in Kazakhstan after 8-month mission aboard ISS

Moscow: A U.S.-Russian space crew landed safely in the steppes of Kazakhstan on Sunday after completing an eight-month stint aboard the International Space Station.

NASA astronaut Chris Williams and Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergei Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev touched down aboard the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft. The capsule descended by parachute and landed smoothly in a designated area southeast of Dzhezkazgan, Kazakhstan, according to NASA and Roscosmos.

The trio launched to the ISS last year and conducted research in areas including biology, physics and technology demonstrations during their mission.

The landing marks another joint operation between NASA and Roscosmos, continuing U.S.-Russian cooperation on the space station despite geopolitical tensions on Earth.
