Translocated tigress Zeenat gives birth to four cubs in Similipal
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s tiger translocation programme hit a major milestone after Zeenat, a tigress brought from Maharashtra, gave birth to four cubs in Similipal Tiger Reserve.
Photographs showing Zeenat gently carrying her cubs in her mouth inside the reserve have since gone viral.
“Today, a proud chapter has been added to Odisha’s natural resources and wildlife conservation efforts,” Chief Minister Mohan Majhi posted on X on Tuesday. “Tigress Zeenat, relocated from Maharashtra’s Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, has given birth to four cubs in the conducive environment of Similipal.”
Zeenat was moved to Similipal to enhance the genetic diversity of the reserve’s tiger population.
