Sundance winner ‘Nocturnes’ to be screened for 5,000 Hyderabad school students

Hyderabad: Nearly 5,000 students from schools across Hyderabad will watch the acclaimed documentary Nocturnes through special screenings starting July 20 at PVR multiplexes in the city. The screenings are part of the nationwide Nocturnes Travelling Cinema initiative by the film’s directors Anirban Dutta and Anupama Srinivasan. The project aims to take the film beyond festivals and bring it directly to young audiences.

Nocturnes premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024, where it won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for Craft. Since then, the film has traveled to over 60 international festivals, including Hot Docs, Sheffield DocFest, and the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.

The Hyderabad leg marks one of the largest outreach programs for the film in India, giving students a chance to experience an award-winning documentary on the big screen as part of a curated cinema program.
