Mumbai: The rupee appreciated by 13 paise to close at Rs 95.81 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday.
The gain came as crude oil prices retreated from elevated levels and the US Dollar index declined overnight.
According to forex traders, easing US Treasury yields from multi-decade highs also supported the domestic unit.
However, weakness in domestic equity markets capped sharper gains for the rupee, traders said. At close, the rupee settled 13 paise higher at 95.81 against the greenback.
