Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier to star in Karan Johar’s Malayalam debut
Malayalam filmmaker Rahul Sadasivan has announced his next project, Odiyan: The Age of Illusion. The film also marks the entry of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions into Malayalam cinema. Starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Manju Warrier in lead roles, the project is co-produced by Prithviraj Productions along with Dharma Productions. The announcement has already generated buzz, bringing together one of Malayalam’s top stars and a leading Hindi production banner for a high-concept film.
With Odiyan, Rahul adds another chapter to his growing slate of horror films. His earlier works Bhoothakalam, Bramayugam, and the upcoming Dies Irae have already cemented his reputation in the genre. The director is known for moving away from conventional horror tropes and exploring different shades of fear in each film.
Industry observers say Odiyan: The Age of Illusion could be a crossover moment for Malayalam cinema, given Dharma Productions’ pan-India reach and Rahul’s distinct style of psychological and mythic horror.
