Peddapalli’s teen archer Taniparthi Chikitha wins double gold at Asian Games
Peddapalli: A young girl from Sultanpur village in Peddapalli district has turned a childhood fascination with the bow and arrow into a golden Asian Games story.
Taniparthi Chikitha went from learning archery with her father’s encouragement to returning with two gold medals from the Asian Games in Japan.
Chikitha developed an interest in archery at a young age. Her father, Srinivas Rao, noticed her enthusiasm and encouraged her to pursue it.
In 2022, her journey took a decisive turn when she joined an archery academy in Sonepat, Haryana. Away from home, she gained access to specialised training.
The results began to follow. She put together consistent performances at national and international events and won gold at the World Youth Championships in 2025.
A year later, she delivered on a bigger stage, winning two gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games. Back in Sultanpur, the achievement spread quickly. The village that had watched her begin now has a double Asian Games gold medallist to celebrate.
For Srinivas Rao, the moment is personal — from first encouragement to years of training. For Chikitha, the double gold is only the beginning.
