Nothing to launch its first AI-native product next month
LONDON: Nothing will start shipping its first AI-native product in December, chief executive Carl Pei said on Wednesday, pitching it as a productivity tool while offering few details about what it will do.”Our first AI-native product ships next month. It’s a tool, but one built with the personality and care that have come to define a Nothing product. It has no new screen, and it couldn’t have been an app,” Pei wrote in a post on X.
Pei did not disclose the product’s name, functions, price or exact shipping date. In an essay titled Toolmakers, Pei argued that the current consumer hardware race — spanning wearable pins, pendants, and smart glasses — is premature. He said AI’s next big opportunity lies in productivity, not in creating a standalone “iPhone moment” for consumer artificial intelligence.
The device will be built as dedicated hardware rather than a software application, and will integrate with Nothing’s existing hardware-software ecosystem. A teaser image shared with the announcement shows only a matte dark body with rounded corners bearing the brand mark “NOTHING (R)” alongside “COMING SOON”.
The launch comes a little over a year after Pei announced plans for AI-native devices and an AI operating system. Nothing first announced its AI device plans in September 2025, when it raised $200 million in a Series C round led by Tiger Global.
