Nasscom says IT sector using hybrid models after PM Modi urges WFH to tackle energy crisis
New Delhi: Industry body Nasscom said Monday that India’s technology sector continues to operate on “well-established hybrid work models,” responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to revive work-from-home practices amid a global energy crunch.
Speaking at a public event in Secunderabad, Telangana on May 10, PM Modi urged citizens and businesses to bring back WFH habits and online meetings as an economic measure to help India navigate the global energy crisis triggered by the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict.
In a statement, Nasscom said organisations in the tech industry are calibrating work-from-home and in-office arrangements based on role requirements and customer needs. “The technology industry in India continued to operate on well-established hybrid work models,” Nasscom noted, indicating that companies already have flexibility built into operations post-pandemic.
The PM’s advisory comes as crude prices and fuel costs remain volatile due to tensions in the Middle East. Remote work is being positioned as a way to cut commuting, reduce energy demand, and ease pressure on transportation networks.
