NASA astronauts Anil Menon, Jessica Meir complete spacewalk to upgrade ISS power system
Washington: NASA astronauts Anil Menon and Jessica Meir concluded a spacewalk outside the International Space Station on Friday, August 6, 2026, to assemble a modification kit for the station’s power channel.
The upgrade will allow for the addition of new solar arrays to the ISS. The spacewalk was the 281st in support of the space station. It was the sixth for Ms. Meir and the first for Mr. Menon, who is of Indian origin.
It began at 8:33 a.m. EDT (6:03 p.m. IST) on Thursday, August 5, 2026, and concluded at 3 p.m. EDT (12:30 a.m. IST Friday).
In a video posted on August 6, 2026, Mr. Menon was seen conducting his first spacewalk outside the International Space Station.
