Meta rolls out paid subscriptions for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp
Meta launched paid subscription plans for its flagship apps on Wednesday, marking a major shift from the company’s longtime reliance on advertising revenue.
Meta head of product Naomi Gleit announced the move in a video posted to Instagram. She said the company is rolling out Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus, and WhatsApp Plus globally.
Gleit added that more subscription plans are in the works for businesses, creators, and artificial intelligence products.
The launch signals Meta’s push to diversify income as digital ad growth slows and privacy rules tighten. Details on pricing and features for the new tiers were not immediately released.
