Mel Brooks’ Spaceballs sequel scheduled to hit theaters on April 23, 2027
Amazon MGM Studios has announced the release date for the highly anticipated sequel to the 1987 cult classic, Spaceballs. The new film, directed by Josh Greenbaum and written by Josh Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez, is scheduled to hit theaters on April 23, 2027.
The sequel boasts an impressive cast, with original stars Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, George Wyner, and Daphne Zuniga reprising their roles. Joining the crew are new additions Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, and Anthony Carrigan.
Produced by Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, along with Jeb Brody, Brooks, Gad, Greenbaum, and Kevin Slater, Spaceballs 2 promises to deliver a fresh round of humor and satire. While plot details are scarce, the film is expected to be a non-prequel, non-reboot sequel, poking fun at sci-fi franchises, particularly Star Wars. The announcement comes as the film will share the release date with Warner Bros.’ untitled FAST movie, directed by Ben Richardson and starring Brendon Sklenar
