Malayalam film ‘Private’ earns spot at 48th Moscow International Film Festival
Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam film Private has been selected for screening at the ongoing 48th edition of the Moscow International Film Festival, giving the film an international platform alongside global cinema.
Directed by Deepak Deon, the film stars veteran actor Indrans and Meenakshi Anoop. It has been chosen in the non-competition category of the festival, which is one of the oldest film festivals in the world and a key event for filmmakers across continents.
The first screening of Private was held on April 18. A second screening is scheduled for Monday, April 20, allowing wider festival audiences and delegates to view the film.
Before its Moscow selection, Private was screened at the P.K. Rosy Film Festival organised by filmmaker Pa Ranjith under the banner of Neelam Cultural Centre. The festival is named after P.K. Rosy, the first female lead in Malayalam cinema, and focuses on films that highlight diverse voices and social themes.
The Moscow selection adds to the recent string of Malayalam films gaining recognition at international festivals, reflecting the industry’s growing reach beyond regional audiences.
