Madhya Pradesh State Athletics Academy shines with 12-medal haul at Indian Athletics Series

Bhopal: It is raining medals at the Madhya Pradesh State Athletics Academy. Junior and senior athletes from the academy won 12 medals between April 4 and April 11 in the first three stages of the Indian Athletics Series organised by the Athletics Federation of India.

The series is designed to provide competitive opportunities, improve infrastructure access across more than 16 venues in the country, and identify talent for national camps. It also serves as a key platform for emerging and elite athletes to prepare for major international championships.

The campaign began with three medals, including two gold, at Series 1 in Bengaluru. Senior shot putter Samardeep Singh took gold with a throw of 19.74 metres. Two junior athletes matched the success in javelin. Krishna Chandra won the boys’ event with 70.68 metres, while Shivani Patel claimed bronze in the girls’ section with 43.46 metres.

A day later at Series 2 in Jaipur, current national record holder Deeksha won gold in the women’s 1500 metres with a time of 4:25.74. In the women’s pole vault, Nitika Aakre secured silver after clearing 3.80 metres.

The men’s pole vault brought the biggest cheers for the MP camp, with the top two spots going to athletes from the state academy. Kuldeep Kumar won gold by clearing 5.25 metres, followed closely by academy mate Dev Meena who took silver.

The Jaipur success continued as Aditya Raghuvanshi earned bronze in the men’s high jump with a clearance of 2.00 metres, while Krishna Yadav finished third in the men’s triple jump with 14.78 metres.

With strong showings across throws, jumps, and track events, the MP State Athletics Academy’s haul highlights its growing role in developing talent for the national stage.
