‘Lust Stories 3’ review: Franchise ditches shock value for emotional isolation
Mumbai: Netflix’s Lust Stories 3 sheds its past shock value to explore the disturbing terrain of emotional isolation in modern relationships.
If the birth of Lust Stories was a shout for liberation, the third iteration is the echo, according to early reviews.
Helmed by a new set of voices — Shakun Batra, Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, and Vishal Bhardwaj — the four-part anthology stars Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, Radhika Madan, Sana Thampi, Gurfateh Pirzada, Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth.
Unlike earlier films in the franchise that followed a clear arc of a character realizing their worth or claiming their pleasure, the third instalment treats desire not as a provocative statement, but as a messy mirror.
The review notes that the series shows how physical proximity often masks isolation, and how lust is weaponised, bargained with, or surrendered to. In three of the four segments, intimacy is readily available, but real emotional safety is scarce.
The anthology, which premiered September 18, 2026, has been described as a mirror to modern relationships, moving the focus to life beyond the bedroom door.
