Lowe’s employees in Pennsylvania rescue 7 kittens found high on warehouse shelf

Downingtown, PA: What started as a routine pallet retrieval at a Lowe’s store turned into a rescue when employees heard a chorus of frightened mewling from high above the Garden Center.

Atop the boxes, they discovered seven kittens across two litters. The Downingtown store called Lucky Dawg Rescue and explained the situation.

Lisa Newton from the shelter received the call and headed over with her cat carrier. “They directed me to the Garden Center and said they have seven kittens, and I was surprised at that. And, they said, ‘two separate litters,’” Newton told.

Store staff used a forklift to safely bring the kittens down. “One of the litters, you could tell that’s where the mom had delivered them,” Newton said.

Employees say two female stray cats frequent the Garden Center and chose the quiet shelf tops as a safe spot to have their litters. Lucky Dawg Rescue confirmed the two cats are still nearby and plans to return to capture and neuter them, helping prevent future litters.

For now, the kittens are safe and settling in. Named Forklift, Herb, Pallet, Planter, Grass, Lowe, and Rose, all seven will be available for adoption soon through the shelter’s website.

Thanks to quick action from Lowe’s staff and Lucky Dawg Rescue, seven tiny lives found a path from a warehouse shelf to a warm home.
