London Marathon set to raise millions as spotlight turns to Children With Cancer UK

London: Tens of thousands of runners will take to the streets this weekend for the London Marathon, expected to raise tens of millions of pounds for good causes.

For many charities, the marathon is the single most important fundraising day of the year. It gives them a chance to share their story, recruit supporters, and fund research and support services.

The event also brings out the best in the city. Police officers, volunteers, and crowds line the route with jelly babies, orange slices, and homemade signs, cheering on runners they have never met.

Among the runners this year is CBeebies presenter and actress Evie Pickerill. She is running as an ambassador for Children With Cancer UK, using the marathon to highlight the children and families who need support long after the finish line.
