‘La Bola Negra’ trailer: Los Javis’ Cannes-winning queer epic stars Penelope Cruz and Glenn Close
The first trailer for La Bola Negra, the Spanish drama spanning three generations and nearly a century of queer history, has been unveiled.
Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, known professionally as Los Javis, have released the trailer for their Cannes-winning drama about three men whose lives become connected across different periods of Spanish history.
The film won the Best Director prize at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, which the pair shared with Pawel Pawlikowski for Fatherland.
The story moves between 1932, 1937 and 2017, following three men whose experiences are linked through desire, sexuality, pain and inheritance. The trailer moves between these periods as the characters confront questions of identity, forbidden desire and the consequences carried across generations. The film stars Penelope Cruz and Glenn Close.
