India’s Russian crude imports surge to 2.66 million BPD in June as refiners stock up

New Delhi: India’s crude oil imports from Russia rose sharply in June as refiners secured supplies ahead of full restoration of flows from Gulf producers after the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, analysts said.

Data from maritime and commodity intelligence firm Kpler showed India imported an average of 2.66 million barrels per day of crude from Russia in June through Friday, June 19, 2026. That is up from 1.91 million bpd in May.

The increase cemented Moscow’s position as India’s largest oil supplier for the month.

Shipments from the United Arab Emirates also hit near-record levels during the period as refiners sought to diversify sources amid disruptions in Gulf routes.
