India’s factory output hits 8% in August, fastest in 2 months
New Delhi: India’s industrial growth accelerated to 8% in August 2026, up from 7.35% in July, driven by strong performance across manufacturing, electricity, capital goods and consumer goods.
Data from the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on Monday showed growth was last higher in June 2026, when it touched 8.8%.
The August print points to a broad-based recovery in factory output, with both investment-linked and consumption-linked sectors contributing to the uptick.
